Institute of Architecture and Earth Sciences
The Institute of Architecture and Earth Sciences is one of the main academic units of Ferhat Abbas University - Sétif 1. It was established as part of the university's restructuring under Executive Decree No. 10-14 of January 12, 2010. The institute combines teaching and research in the fields of architecture, earth sciences, and land planning, aiming for academic excellence and addressing the needs of sustainable development.
Mission and Vision
The institute aims to train a generation of professionals capable of meeting future challenges and to promote scientific research. Its mission is to develop students' skills and prepare them comprehensively to adapt to advancements in architecture, geology, and land planning.
Academic Programs
The institute offers a wide range of programs that meet academic and professional demands:
- Bachelor's degrees in Urban Planning, Geology, and Land Management, as well as an engineering program in Architecture, providing students with a solid foundation in scientific and practical knowledge.
- Master's degrees to deepen skills and specialize in advanced fields.
- Doctoral programs (Third Cycle and State Doctorates) focusing on building scientific research capabilities.
Institute Structure
The institute is composed of three main departments:
- Department of Architecture: Dedicated to training architects and enhancing their skills in architectural design.
- Department of Earth Sciences: Focuses on studying geological phenomena and exploring natural resources, with applications in resource exploration, environmental protection, and resource management.
- Department of Geography and Land Planning: Specializes in training professionals in regional planning.
Scientific Research
The institute is supported by four research laboratories that drive its scientific activities:
- Mediterranean Architecture Laboratory.
- Habitat and Environment Laboratory.
- Urban Project, City, and Territory Laboratory.
- Applied Research Laboratory in Engineering Geology, Geotechnics, Water Sciences, and Environment.
Human Resources
The institute's academic staff comprises 118 instructors, distributed as follows:
- 6 Professors.
- 24 Senior Lecturers (Class A).
- 23 Senior Lecturers (Class B).
- 43 Assistant Lecturers (Class A).
- 22 Assistant Lecturers (Class B).
These faculty members contribute to student supervision and oversee their scientific and research projects, ensuring high-quality teaching and training.
Student Life and Activities
