The Institute, established in 2010, has been experiencing continuous growth, both in terms of the number of students trained and the remarkable level of recruitment of new university professors and support staff. This qualitative progress has been accompanied by the acquisition of significant pedagogical resources and the diversification of training programs, particularly at the Master's level.
The programs offered at the Institute focus on three main fields: architecture, earth sciences, and geography and land planning. These three fields are among the most critical sectors for the economy and the daily lives of citizens, such as housing and urban planning, infrastructure construction, city management, mineral and energy resources, water resources, natural disaster forecasting and management, environmental protection, land planning, and sustainable development. Therefore, the training provided by the Institute offers its graduates a wide range of professional opportunities, whether in the public or private sector, with a direct connection to social and economic sectors.
Moreover, the Institute actively contributes to the development of scientific research in Algeria through its four research laboratories and doctoral programs in architecture and earth sciences, which have led to the graduation of numerous Ph.D. holders in these fields. The significant number of scientific articles published in prestigious journals by the Institute's faculty, as well as the national and international conferences and seminars hosted by the Institute, reflect the dynamic character of the Institute in scientific research and knowledge dissemination.
In addition, our Institute promotes scientific, cultural, and sports activities through its four active student clubs. The promotion and development of these activities are among our top priorities, as evidenced by the impressive number of student events held at the Institute, averaging one or more activities every week during the academic year.
All this dynamism aligns with the university development plan that the administration of Ferhat Abbas University, Sétif 1, strives to implement.
