Following the creation of the University Center of Sétif by Presidential Decree No. 78-133 on June 3, 1978, the Institute of Architecture was established by ministerial order on October 10, 1979, to welcome its first students, making it one of the oldest architecture training departments in Algeria.

The department boasts extensive experience in architecture education and currently comprises more than 70 faculty members of various ranks and over 1,050 students distributed across different levels of study. The multidisciplinary teaching team includes architects, urban planners, land-use planners, sociologists, engineers, and geographers.
